Where We Go
Food Walking Tours of New Jersey

Starting in 2014, Noshwalks now offers a tour to Newark, New Jersey's fascinating Ironbound section!

Newark's Ironbound

This tour spotlights the Portuguese and Brazilian specialties that draw people far and wide for the village-like atmosphere hard to find in the NY-NJ area - and also for delicious Ecuadorean and Peruvian tastes - and it's just steps from Newark's easy-to-reach (by PATH or NJ Transit) Penn Station. Tastes include delicious codfish pie, Brazilian fritters ("salgados" and "empadas" with all sorts of fillings (hearts of palm, chicken, cheese, shrimp and more)and a rich "queijo mixto" (mixed cheese) of cow, sheep and goat milk on good Portuguese bread. We finish with a taste of Portugese "pasteles de nata" and "galao," special Portuguese coffee. The tour includes a visit to a huge international supermarket that specializes in Iberian and Latin American foods with great prices.

Jersey City's Journal Square

Easy and quick to reach on PATH, Journal Square is a foodie dream; our tastes focus on Egyptian, Indian and Filipino foods with great markets and tastes from each of these three food-lover's dream destinations! There are many choices to make AND prices are excellent, so do bring a tote bag or have extra space in your backpack for the purchases you'll want to make!

Also, don't forget about our other tours in The Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

Visit our Walking Tour Schedule to see which tours interest you the most! Sign up for one of our public food walking tours of Staten Island, or call to schedule a custom tour for your group outing.
